I'm a freelance producer/director with experience in brand funded content, broadcast PR, online viral videos, news and corporate video based in London, UK. Working across a variety of sectors including charity, consumer brands, Government and factual, I've been lucky enough to direct some pretty cool projects - Team UK competing in WorldSkills in Brazil (the olympics for skills), Made in Chelsea's Francis Boulle secretly flirting in a bar and Radio 2's Jo Whiley retaking her driving test.
Key to any video content is a good narrative. An inquisitive nature allows me to suss out the story. Being multi-disciplined I'm happy switching between roles. If necessary I can direct a full production crew or work solo as a PD self-shooter.
One of my key attributes whilst directing, is to be able to deal with contributors, often in a distressed or nervous state. By calming them down, explaining what we plan to do and and carefully thinking about the questions I ask, I can get an organic, natural response from them without putting words in to their mouths. One my favourite things to hear as I walk away from a shoot is "you made that so comfortable for me, thank you".
Of course not all shoots are unscripted and sometimes there is messaging that has to be clear. In these cases I'm happy working from a script. If the talent is inexperienced in delivering scripted content, I will sit down before hand and distill the script into manageable questions to ask them. This a much better way to realistically capture the content.
Based in London, UK but happy to travel
Extensive experience producing broadcast PR content means I'm comfortable balancing branding and key messages whilst remaining broadcaster friendly. This is particularly essential when producing video news releases as too pertinent branding may compromise the broadcast-ability of the content.
