Now into its 5th year, the annual Kraken Screamfest is back for 2022. This year the brand activation, based around a terrifying game of hide and seek, combined real world events with an online arcade game that players around the world could play. To launch this horrifying experience, Cow PR asked me to create a series of trailer films that could be used across media to promote the experience.
Based in the basement of Shoreditch Town Hall, we recreated an old arcade hall. When a lone player uses one of the arcade machines, it brings monsters to life.
My approach was to use a variety of wirelessly controlled lighting, along with a lot of smoke, to create a terrifying environment. Lights hidden away on the arcade machines could bring them to life independently. I then used sound design in the edit to bring the film together and create an eerie but terrifying ambience.
Shot on ARRI Amira with Canon CN7 lens. Lit using a variety of Aputure LED lights controlled via the Sidius app.
