Created for the Army in collaboration with Wonderly, this video was designed to give potential recruits an immersive tour of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, showcasing what they can expect if they choose to join.
Lieutenant Saffron Taylor guides viewers through the academy, highlighting its rich history and emphasis on leadership development. The video covers both academic and military training, from classroom learning to hands-on experiences on the assault course, in the field, and on the parade ground. Saffron also showcases the academy’s facilities, including gyms, a swimming pool, and recreational spaces like "the huddle," where recruits can unwind with games or receive welfare support. For moments of personal reflection, the academy offers a chapel and prayer rooms. Throughout the video, Saffron invites viewers to explore the academy and its many offerings.
As the filmmaker, I shot this project using a combination of Sony FX3, FX6, and FX9 cameras, incorporating a mix of gimbal and handheld filming techniques to capture dynamic, engaging shots. I used mostly natural light to create an authentic and visually striking look. The fast-paced editing was set to energetic music, maintaining a balance between high energy and focus, ensuring that the pace of the video remained engaging without being overwhelming. This approach was key in bringing the vibrancy and discipline of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst to life for potential recruits.
