For this video podcast production episode, I was commissioned by The HumanWare Project to produce a visually engaging and cinematic interview with longevity expert Tina Woods. The conversation explored her unconventional journey — from policy and innovation to DJing and, ultimately, leading the conversation on healthy ageing and longevity. Tina spoke about how lifestyle, environment, and community shape our ability to age well, and highlighted curiosity and continual learning as core ingredients for staying mentally and physically young. Her insights created a compelling narrative that went far beyond a standard interview, making this a standout episode within the series.
My goal in filming was to elevate the production value and make the content feel more like a documentary-style conversation than a traditional static podcast. I used a three-camera setup with the Sony FX9, FX6, and FX3 to capture a range of angles and depth — a typical approach across my video podcast production work. The FX9 delivered cinematic full-frame visuals, while the FX6 provided flexible coverage and excellent low-light performance. The compact FX3 allowed me to introduce more creative perspectives.
To add movement and a premium feel, I used an automatic slider to create smooth camera motion throughout the discussion, helping long-form dialogue remain visually engaging. The set was lit using a variety of LED fixtures — key, fill, and background lighting — to shape faces, control contrast, and build depth in the scene. The end result is a polished, cinematic video podcast production that reflects the high production standards of The HumanWare Project while showcasing their guest in the best possible way.
